XIC's Golden Jubilee Celebrations

XIC Golden Jubilee celebrations started with an Inaugural Mass on Sunday, 20th January 2019 at 5.30 p.m. in the Chapel of the St. Xavier’s College. The main celebrant was Fr. Errol Fernandes, SJ., Vice Principal (Commerce Section) along with eleven co-celebrants. The congregation consisted of our alumni, staff, faculty & Management.

After the Mass, “Nostalgia” a special event took place in the main quadrangle which was decorated for the occasion.  A Photo gallery of Photographs from 1969 till 2018 was exhibited on display boards as part of the Nostalgia. People penned down their messages on the main white card paper that was put up. Bytes, messages by ex-directors, alumni & faculty were projected on an LED screen. The student core committee projected a Video Photo montage & a short clip -XIC at a glance. Students worked on various social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter & facebook) to promote this event & encourage alumni to join the celebrations.

‘Nostalgia’ started with a welcome by the Director, Dr. Fr. Conrad Pesso, SJ.  Fr. Gordon Daniells, SJ. addressed the gathering. The ex-directors present at the programme were Fr. Myron Pereira, SJ & Fr. Joseph Velinkar, SJ, who were felicitated. They gave a nostalgic speech which was much applauded by the audience.

The compere for the evening was our alumnus, Ms. Priya Adivarekar (JR 2013 batch). Live Band at the programme was “Secret Mission”.    People danced to the music & enjoyed the evening.

Three of our senior most alumni (Dara Acidwalla, Betty Clifford & Benny) cut the Jubilee cake   alongwith the Rector, Fr. Keith Fernandes & Director, SJ, Fr. Conrad Pesso, SJ

A spectacular performance by our staff members was the highlight of the evening. They danced to retro music in style & grace.

The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Mario Fernandes, Administrator & grace before meals by Fr. Blaise D’Souza, SJ. The gathering headed for a sumptuous dinner in the “Woods”.

It was a day to remember and we look forward to a year filled with celebrations!
