The students of Journalism and Media Convergence attended the Viksit Bharat 2047 National Conference at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. During the event, they had the opportunity to interact with Rajdeep Sardesai, a veteran journalist and consulting editor at the India Today Group. He addressed the students on ‘Voices from the Ground: What Maharashtra’s People Tell Us About Vision 2047.’

He spoke about the growth of India. “The states of India must grow together, that’s how you will build a new and better India,” he said. His talk on Marathwada, Vidarbha, Mumbai and issues like farmer suicides and communal clashes was an eye-opener for the students as they gained information from a new perspective. “You cannot build a better state if you don’t have social cohesion,” he said.

Mr. Sardesai also shared compelling case studies from his years in journalism, illustrating the lived realities of people across Maharashtra. The session concluded with him answering students’ questions. His talk left the students with a deeper awareness and a sense of responsibility as future media professionals.

The event was organised and hosted by the Master's of Public Policy (MPP) Department of St.Xavier’s College.
