Bridging Academia and Industry: MCDM students visit to Dainik Bhaskar

As part of our MCDM programme at the Xavier Institute of Communication, we visited Dainik Bhaskar , one of India’s oldest and most respected newspaper organisations. The visit gave us a closer understanding of how a major newsroom functions on a daily basis.
Inside the newsroom, we observed reporters, editors, and digital teams working together to shape stories with accuracy and speed. Watching this process helped us understand the effort, coordination, and editorial judgment required to deliver credible news to millions of readers.
We also had the opportunity to interact with senior professionals who explained the principles of ethical reporting, fact-checking, and the challenges of modern journalism. Their insights helped us connect our academic learning to real industry practices.
An important takeaway from the visit was understanding how AI And modern digital tools are influencing the news industry from content automation to data driven decision-making. However, the team emphasised that while technology can enhance efficiency, original, authentic journalism remains irreplaceable. Human judgment, storytelling, and ethical responsibility continue to define credible news.
Overall, the visit was extremely insightful and helped us gain a clearer perspective on the evolving media landscape. It strengthened our appreciation for both traditional journalism and the new technologies shaping its future.
