On the Occasion of 75 Years of the Indian Rupee, Journalism Students visited the RBI Monetary Museum
On the occasion of 75 years of the Indian Rupee, the students of Journalism and Media Convergence visited the RBI Monetary Museum on December 6th. There, they got an opportunity to watch an informative documentary which highlighted the evolution of the national currency. In the museum, the students witnessed coins from different eras. The educational visit was arranged by faculty member Bijoy Idicheriah.
The students also visited Sarmaya Arts Foundation to witness the ‘Odyssey of The Rupee’. It was the landmark show tracing the 500-year odyssey of the Indian national currency. Curated by Dr. Shailendra Bhandare, the exhibition showcased coins and notes used in the country over time. Students also watched different informative videos, which gave a historical context to the emergence and transformation of different currencies.
Through this visit, the students gained an understanding that, despite the currency's evolution, one thing that remains constant is its representation of the government's power.
