Journalism and Media Convergence students visited the Times of India (TOI) office in Mumbai
16-July-2025
On 16th July 2025, Journalism and Media Convergence students visited the Times of India (TOI) office in Mumbai, an enlightening experience that deepened our understanding of the field. We were welcomed by Richa Pinto, Assistant Editor of Times of India and Nauzer Bharucha, a Senior Editor at TOI, who emphasized the importance of having a "sharp nose for news" and encouraged us to seek stories from diverse sources beyond traditional ones.
Bharucha in interaction with the students highlighted the value of authentic images in journalism, especially in an era dominated by artificial intelligence. Following him, Joenna Rebello, the Assistant Editor of Features, discussed the significance of feature articles and their cultural relevance. She explained that features are often published on Sundays, allowing readers time to engage with them. Joenna also shared her enthusiasm for podcasts and recommended several notable ones. The insights from both Mr. Bharucha and Joenna inspired us to explore various storytelling formats. Overall, the visit was a motivating experience, reinforcing our passion for journalism and the power of impactful storytelling.
Special thanks to Richa Pinto for arranging this great opportunity for our students. We are truly grateful for this opportunity and we thank you for making it possible with a lot of insights.
