Journalism & Media Convergence : A Visit to Mumbai Press Club

On August 10, students of the Journalism and Media Convergence batch, 2026-27 had an opportunity to visit the Mumbai Press Club for an exhibition in the memory of late Rajanish Kakade showcasing his captivating work that provided deeper insights into the world of photojournalism. Students were hosted by Mr. Indarnil Mukherjee, who enlightened students on photojournalism.
Mr. Mukherjee dedicated a considerable time to make students understand and interpret the works of late Rajanish Kakade.The visit proved to be an enriching experience, giving students an understanding of the power of visual storytelling and the diverse nature of the field.They got to know how photojournalism has evolved over years from the analogue age to the modern digital age; this encouraged students to think critically about the current demands of the profession.
Mr. Mukherjee also educated students about the duties, roles and work ethics of a journalist. Students learnt about the intricacies of the domain and how to keep calm and think rationally in adverse situations. He addressed all the questions raised by students and provided well articulated responses. He also briefed the students about the technicalities of the field and gave some phenomenal examples from both his career and major events like protest, war, olympics to bollywood and elections. These anecdotes helped students understand the demanding yet rewarding nature of photojournalism.
Overall, the visit was extremely insightful. Students were thrilled and delighted to experience this session. The batch had a better understanding about photojournalism and gained valuable insights.
