EPEM Students Gain Hands-On Insights into Technical Event Production at Virtual Vision

On September 11, 2026, EPEM (Batch of 2026-2027) students had an opportunity to attend an insightful workshop on Technical Production at Virtual Vision Pvt. Ltd in Goregaon. The session was conducted by guest faculty Mr Mihir Sutaria, who introduced students to the core technical pillars of event production-lights, sound, and video-offering a deep dive into their distinct functions, practical applications, and roles in live events.
Sutaria dedicated considerable time to familiarizing students with the diverse types of stage lighting used across the industry and explaining where and how each fixture is deployed to create impact. The session proved to be an enriching experience, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world execution. Students gained practical, hands-on experience operating control consoles, learning how parameters are adjusted and cues are triggered in real-time environments.
Apart from hardware operations, he enlightened students about the critical role of pre-visualization and show-control software used in modern event planning. Students were introduced to tools like SketchUp for spatial drafting, Capture for real-time 3D lighting visualization, grandMA3 light stage lighting control consoles, and digital audio mixing consoles. He addressed all the queries raised by students, breaking down complex signal chains, programming logic, and operational workflows into clear, practical concepts.
Overall, the visit was extremely insightful. Students were thrilled and delighted to gain direct exposure to industry-standard equipment and software, walking away with a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies, demands, and rewarding nature of live technical production.
