09-January-2026

Xavier Institute of Communications (XIC) in collaboration with The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI), conducted a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) at the St. Xavier’s College campus on 9 January 2026.

The one-day programme was attended by 36 faculty members from higher education institutions in Mumbai, representing the disciplines of Media, Marketing, Law, and Management. The workshop aimed to sensitise participants to principles of responsible advertising, ethical decision-making frameworks, and the role of self-regulation within the rapidly evolving digital communication ecosystem.

The programme was led by Ms. Saheli Sinha, Director – Operations, ASCI, with a keynote address by Mr. Surinder Chawla, President – Response, Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd., and Member of the ASCI Board of Governors. Ms. Anu Sinha, communications professional, educator, and Course Head at the Xavier Institute of Communications, also contributed to the academic and professional discourse. Collectively, the sessions emphasised the centrality of ethics and self-regulatory mechanisms in sustaining stakeholder trust and credibility in advertising practice.

A key objective of the programme was to enable participating faculty to integrate these perspectives into their pedagogy, thereby influencing the professional formation of future practitioners. The initiative represents a constructive step towards creating awareness of regulatory nuances and promoting responsible corporate conduct grounded in a consumer-first orientation.
