Celebrating Excellence - XIC's 56th Annual Convocation

The Xavier Institute of Communications (XIC) marked a proud milestone with its 56th Annual Convocation, held on 12th April, 2025 in the historic quadrangle of St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. The ceremony drew a large gathering of parents, faculty, distinguished guests, and students, all united in celebrating academic achievement and creative excellence.
The proceedings began with an address by Dr. Fr. Conrad Pesso, Director of XIC, followed by Dr. Fr. Keith D’Souza, SJ, Rector of St. Xavier’s College. A screening of the highlights from the Academic Year 2025–2026 set the tone for the evening.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Raul Rebello, MD & CEO of Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Ltd., inspired the audience with his reflections on leadership, innovation, and the evolving media landscape.
Honouring Talent and Achievement: The Ignatian award, was awarded to Mrunmayee Chitale and Muskaan Rathore was awarded The Best All-Round Student.
The following awards were given during the event:
Trilight Creations Award for ‘The Best Student in Film, Television & Digital Video Production Course’ was awarded to Roselyn and Runner-up to Lavanya Joshi Ouseph Anthony Memorial Award for the Best Social Documentary, was awarded "OFFSTAGE" to team members Akash Vinod Nair, Ankur Roy Choudhury, Arnav Malhotra, Roselyn, Shrey Kapoor, Shreyash Srivastava
Burson India Vivek Samta Award for the Best Student in Public Relations & Corporate Communication to Arushi Gund and Runner-up to Rhea Antony.
The Anjani More Memorial Scholarship sponsored by Adfactors PR, was handed to Somya Jain.
Iyengar’s Kaapi Award for the Best student in Advertising, Marketing Communications & Customer Analytics to Advertising & Marketing (A) to Padmashree Natu and Advertising & Marketing (B) to Sanikaa Vinay Bhoyate.
Best Student Runner-up in Advertising & Marketing (A) to Anuvinda P and Best Student Runner-up in Advertising & Marketing (B) to Tamanna Tushar Amin.
Event Planning & Experiential Marketing best student to Mehak Mathur and Runner-up to Saumya Mutreja .
Mass communication and Digital Media best student to Riddhi Kaushik and Runner-up to Pari Sehgal.
The Venkat Vemulapalli Memorial Awards, has been instituted in memory of Venkat Vemulapalli, ex-AM student of XIC by his parents Mr. Srinivas & Mrs. Ratna Vemulapalli, for Best AD Films and Best Live Client Projects.
Best Ad Film - Group 7 to INDIAN EXPRESS, to team members Paritosh Bhuwad, Daljeet Kaur Ladhad, Sanskriti Dhoot, Shruti Desai, Samirit Banik, Vishal Singh, Aayushi Rao, Ananya Varma, Annanya Jain, Roshani Balsara.
Runner-up - Group 6 to Eno, to team members Janhavi Banerjee, Samiksha Nair, Vasaya Sohil Rahimbhai, Rishit Nagpal, Sneha Dutta, Hassya Pawar, Kiran Vilas Bhambere, Harshvi Shah, Ria Sethi, Aparna Sashi.

The Underdog Certificate of Commendation for the Best Copywriter in Advertising, Marketing Communications & Customer Analytics to Mohammed Sanaan M. H.
The Ranjana Kacker Memorial Award for Outstanding Research Paper in Journalism 2024-25, was awarded to Aanya Thakur and Adwitiya Deb. and for The Best News Capsule in Broadcast Journalism, to, "World Play Network", team members: Alister Augustine, Arunima Shukla, Aparna Krishna, Shivangi Shukla & Shriyangsh Biswas.
Journalism & Media Convergence Best Student to Saloni Nande and the Runner-up to Alister Augustine.
The Intrigue Club Members along with the Content Crew members were also feliciatated for helping in the various event during the academic year.
Diplomas were conferred by course heads, marking the culmination of years of dedication and learning. The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Mario Fernandes, Administrator, who acknowledged the collective efforts of every department in making the event a resounding success.
The evening was not just a celebration of academic milestones but also a tribute to creativity, resilience, and the spirit of XIC. As the outgoing batch of 2025–26 steps into the world, the institute extends its warmest congratulations and best wishes for their future endeavors.
