ALFAAZ Lit Fest Lights Up The Stage of Ikshana 2026

With the theme ‘The Intersection of Technology and Humanity’ Ikshana 2026 commenced with Alfaaz Lit Fest organized by the students of Journalism and Media Convergence. Dignitaries Fr. Conrad Pesso, St. Xavier’s College Principal Karuna Gokarn and Fr. Joseph graced the program with their presence and valuable insights.
Alfaaz started with a panel discussion on ‘Dealing with News Consumption Habits of Digital and Social Media Natives’. The discussion dived deep on how the continuously evolving digital and technological world is impacting journalism. The panelists were Brijesh Singh, IPS and Information and Public Relations in Government of Maharashtra, Govindraj Ethiraj, editor of The Core and Sunil Nair, Resident Editor at Times of India, Mumbai. The conversation was moderated by Dr. Bijoy Idicheriah, Communications Consultant, writer and former journalist.
Brijesh Singh shared examples and case studies on how the emerging technologies like AI, social media and deepfakes have a psychological impact on people.
Sunil Nair said, “The older generations were at advantage without digitalisation.” Meanwhile, Govindraj Ethiraj discussed how journalism is about building trust in the age of rapid distribution of false information due to social media.
The Journalism and Media Convergence students hosted a radio game ‘Frequency Face-Off’ where different teams competed with each other in various rounds. The viewers were entertained by audience pleaser in between rounds giving the event an energetic vibe. The jury were, Fali Singara (RJ All India Radio), Manek Premchand (author, historian and film writer) and Dr. Bijoy Idicheriah.
Team ‘Ad-Ventures’ (ADMA) won while ‘Baads of MCDM’ (MCDM) secured the 2nd position after neck-to-neck fight.
The event concluded with laughter, cheers and applause by the students.
