You are eligible to register for the OET if you meet the requirements mentioned below:

  • You are 35 years or below in age.
    And
  • You have completed 3 years of Graduation (12+3 years) in an University approved stream: (Arts, Commerce, Science, Computers, BMM, BMS, BE, Catering, etc….)
    OR
  • You are appearing for your Last Semester or Third year Graduation this year.

In this last case, should you be selected for the XIC Course of your choice, and successfully complete it in keeping with the Academic, Attendance and other standards laid down by XIC, the Post -graduate Diploma will be awarded only on completion of your Graduation and on submission of the relevant attested Final mark-sheet of your graduation.

What to expect at XIC

Academics

Designed primarily for graduates who are planning a career in communications and media, the courses attempt to go beyond skills and techniques. Students are encouraged to question the social framework within which the media operate.

They offer a chance for students to interact with distinguished media people - journalists, filmmakers, critics, photographers, advertising, publicity and public relations professionals - who form the core of the teaching faculty at XIC

In addition to classroom teaching, the emphasis in these courses is on group projects, personal assignments and study. Some courses also have an element of independent research added.

The Credit System

In course structure, XIC follows the Credit System.
One credit represents 10 hours of class time, or 5 sessions (of 2 hours each).

Diploma courses average 80-100 credits, or 400-500 learning sessions in an academic year of ten calendar months. This does not include individual study time.

Classes are held in 2 hour sessions between 10 a.m. and 8.30 p.m. The course load averages between two to three sessions per day over a five-day week. When weekends are taken for production and workshops, the weekly load is accordingly adjusted. For every hour of class time, a student is expected to put in two hours or more daily, of private study by way of reading, reflection, assignments, research or case study and special projects.

To qualify for any one of XIC's FIVE diplomas a student should have successfully fulfilled the course requirements: 75% attendance and an average grade 'C' in the finals. This requirement is applicable to the certificate courses as well.

Diploma

The Institute awards its own Diplomas to students who successfully complete the necessary course requirements. XIC students are much sought after by the media industry, commercial, corporate and non-profit organizations in India and Overseas.

A very important requirement for all these Diploma courses is compulsory attendance for all lectures and group activities.

This is then factored into the Final Grade Point Average.

Hostel Facilities

XIC offers no hostel facilities. Out-of-town students have to make their own lodging arrangements. However XIC does help students to locate safe and affordable accommodation in the vicinity of the college.
