All modules in this course are obligatory. Workshops are valuated for
credit by attendance or assignments or both. The management reserves the
right to change the syllabus without prior notice.

Course Outline and Method: The Journalism course is a full time,
post-graduate Advanced Diploma programme, intended as instruction in the
role and function of mass media and civil society. It examines the
principles, practice and responsibility of communication, the mass media,
and the convergence of print, broadcast and net journalism.
In the era of New Media, the Journalism course combines knowledge
creation and extension, craft and context, with practical applications in
a study programme of proven excellence. Students emerge from the course
enabled for multiple tasks and skills in mass communication and social
development.
The course comprises 19 modules (obligatory), and sets of
electives (one group to be chosen from 3 offered); and on-line
courses, seminars and workshops, the costs of which make up the tuition
fee.
The total of 440 sessions / 88 credits, makes the student eligible
for the diploma.
Eligibility: Anyone who is a graduate in Arts, Science, Mass
Media, Commerce with at least 55 percent marks. There is an on-line
entrance test followed by an individual interview.
Class timings: Two to three sessions a day in the forenoon, afternoon
and evening. (10/11.00a.m.-1.00p.m., 2.00-4.00p.m., 4.00-6.00p.m. and
6.30-8.30p.m).
Workshops and seminars are usually scheduled for Saturdays.
75% attendance is compulsory in each module and is graded.
Failure in any module necessitates reassessment exercises / assignments /
attendance in the subsequent academic year/s for completion and award of
Diploma certification.
Job Prospects: The print, broadcast, and digital media are
experiencing rapid expansion. Mass media , new media and internet
communication offer promising and remunerative work opportunities. Diploma
holders can enter as trainees/ employees on newspapers, magazines, and in
TV/radio, media service agencies, corporate organisations and NGOs.
