XIC comes fifth !!
A
recent Outlook survey (June 11, 2007) of professional colleges placed
the Xavier Institute of Communications fifth in a scale of the top ten
colleges of communications in India. Some of the parameters indicated
were competence of faculty and pedagogic systems (in which XIC was
ranked fourth), and infrastructure and placements (in which it came
lower).
The survey conducted by Cfore, a market research
firm, admitted that the survey was based more on subjective perception
than on objective parameters. It surveyed a host of professional
institutions in traditional areas like engineering, law, medicine and
technology, as well as in newer fields like media and fashion. The
survey noted that students today have changing atitudes, and will not
only change jobs easily, but even cross sectors of employment. Most
communication institutes have journalism as their staple offering, but
quality standards are poor. Poor pay scales are another reason for the
dearth of good faculty for teaching.
