Istoria 2017 - A Mix of
Historical Magic with 100 in Sync
It was a night full of stars, magic and harmony at the annual event
organized by the PR and Corporate Communication batch of the Xavier Institute
of Communications (XIC) - ISTORIA. This year the batch of 59 students brought
together a line up of three enthralling performances with a historical finale
to celebrate the fifth year of the event. The concept this year was to
celebrate harmony and synchronisation with music which has synchronisation in
its very foundation.
The
entrance was lined with glittering golden lights and musical notes. There was a
mammoth stage that looked magnanimous with the architecture of the iconic St.
Xavier's College.
The
event began with a brilliant opening performance by Amani Kerr, one of the PR
students. This was followed by the artists in the line-up, Aishwarya Suresh,
RaagaTrippin’ and Redwired.
Then
came the grand finale that everyone was waiting for with bated breath. The
lights went off and when they came back on, there were a 100 musicians on
stage, all in black and gleaming smiles, ready to pull off a great show! They
were ready for the tribute to their idol, a Bollywood Maestro who has created
music unlike the others, Mr Amit Trivedi who was also present and seated in the
first row. The musicians were a combination of vocalists, guitarists, drummers
and percussionists belonging from different music schools and colleges from
around Mumbai.
They
began with one of Amit Trivedi's most cherished compositions
"Iktara". This was followed by "Zinda" and the concluding
song was one of his most recent tracks "Love you Zindagi". Moved by
the performance, Mr Trivedi also joined them in the end and sang a few lines of
the same song.
This
entire show was conducted and coordinated by Prince Mulla and Ramnarayan
Gopalakrishnan. The final performance was a result of endless hours of
rehearsals with the musicians, including the day of the event. These passionate
bunch of artists didn’t lose their spirits as they practised in the scorching
heat all day.
Bringing
100 talented musicians together is a task in itself. The administration and planning
& logistics team had put in their sweat and blood to make sure that the
show was a success. Here’s what Rishika, the Admin HOD had to say, "When I
became the HOD of Administration for Istoria 2017, I knew my team and I had an
important role to play. But over the period, somehow administration took the
lead and took care of the highlight of what made Istoria the way it was, the
100 musicians was extremely difficult and challenging. Coordinating with so
many participants and at the same time taking care of the permissions seemed so
difficult. However my team and I made it. Being the HOD of this team was my
best role ever and I am so thankful.”
The
elated chairpersons, Kokil Sachdeva and Neha Munshi, exclaimed, "The idea was
to provide a platform to synchronize talent and opportunities and create a
magical evening that will enthral one and all. Through 100-InSync-an ode by the
100 musicians to Amit Trivedi, we were attempting something that has never
happened before in our country. And as fascinating it might sound, to make it
possible is anything but easy. But when has anything remarkable ever been easy?”
More
than an exceptional show, Istoria left the audiences with an insatiable feeling
of being loved and satisfied with life. The magic created on stage by the 100
musicians with their zeal and hard work only goes to exemplify the fact that
synchronisation is what makes us complete as human beings.
It
was an excellent night pulled off by the PR batch of XIC. This year's Istoria
left the audience feeling better about themselves and helped them discover
music. We are now even more curious about what is in store for the event next
year!
