ISTORIA 2015: Media Unplugged

02-March-2015

After nearly two months of preparation, weeks brainstorming and lots of heavy lifting, the day finally arrived. March 1st,2015 and the grand St.Xavier’s façade was lit up, the venue decorated and the XIC Public Relations & Corp. Comm. (PR) batch of 2014-2015 was ready for the show to begin.

Istoria, a four year old festival, and the only PR festival in the country comes with its own set of expectations that (go higher) year after year. Every succeeding batches tries hard to raise the bar with every edition of Istoria. In 2015, Istoria presented – "Media Unplugged”. An important part of the festival was a Media Conclave. Experts in the Media Industry from the fields of blogging, marketing, films, journalism and advertising were invited. Prema Sagar, Founder Genesis; Sujal Shah, Partner in MissMalini.com; Samar Khan, Director; Ishaan Raina, CEO OOH Media; T.J Ravishankar, former Journalist and Industry expert; Anurag Mathur, AVP Business Development, Aditya Birla Financial Group. Sandia Furtado, an XIC PR alumna and RJ Suren moderated. The Conclave was a lively discussion on the issues concerning media in India today where opinions and experiences was shared freely and boldly. The Conclave was followed by a night of unplugged music by The Rashid Ali Collective which included Bollywood singer Rashid Ali, his musicians, the best beat-boxers in the country Arjun and Avinash and other artists who pumped up the energy and spirits till closing time.

The event was planned and detailed down to the second. Minutes before the show started, with the stage ready, sound check done by artists and the guests coming in, the heavens decided to open up! So what happens then? The whole class gets together and says, "The show must go on!” And so it did. The generous, College Principal opened up the College Hall for us! The Conclave was shifted indoors after which the rains stopped in time for the band performance to begin outside. While Rashid Ali strummed away at his guitar, the class got together and heaved a collective sigh- of the satisfaction, relief. But not to beat the elation of a show of great quality. Batch of 2015-16, you have a tough act to follow!
