46th Annual Convocation

The 46th Annual Convocation for the Academic year 2015-16 of Xavier Institute of Communications was held on April 22, 2016 in the quadrangle of St. Xavier’s College.
Fr. Lawrence Ferrao SJ, Director of XIC welcomed the audience, comprising of students, parents, friends, faculty, Course Heads and Staff of XIC.
Our Chief Guest for the evening was Padma Shri Piyush Pandey, Executive Chairman and Creative Director, South Asia, Ogilvy & Mather; our Guest of Honour was Dr. Baptist Agnel Menezes, Principal, St. Xavier’s College.
The programme was compered by Romeo Monteiro, Head of Computer Dept., and Vaishali Deshpande, in-charge, Alumni Relations.
Fr. Lawrie Ferrao SJ, Director, XIC began with a prayer and a lively video clip followed by the screening of "The Year That Was” with short clippings of events and documentaries of the entire academic year amidst loud cheers from the students of the respective courses.
The ‘Best Student of the Year’ was a tie and was awarded to Yamini Tyagi of Public Relations & Corporate Communication Course and Divyajot Singh of Film Television & Digital Video Production Course.
Dr. Jehangir B. Mistry, Board Member and Dean of XIC highlighted XIC achievements in the review of the Academic year 2015-16.
Ranjana Kacker Memorial Awards
The family of the late Ranjana Kacker, an Alumnus of XIC 1979 Journalism batch has set up awards for Journalism students, in her memory. The awards were presented by her grandniece Ms. Ritika Nandkeolyar. "Outstanding Research Papers in Journalism for the year 2014-2015” was awarded to Zenia D’Cunha & Varsha Meghani.
The Award for Best Broadcast TV News Production went to "XNN News "
Team members – Shivam Damohe, Ayushi Dimri, Stuti Mishra, Shashank Nair, Shiwani Nailwal, Yogini Roygaga, Bandana Shah, Bhavya Sharma, Sumit Sharma & Abhishek Yadav.
The Award for Best Video Documentary Production went to "The Hidden Gems of Bombay"
Team members – Tiara Arora, Charu Choudhary, Akshita Gupta, Sanya Jain, Surbhi Kapila, Riddhima Kanatker, Ashay Kapse, Suhasini Krishnan, Manvi Malhotra, Siddharth Mukherjee, Prachita Pandey & Rohit Saraf.
Sandra Rana, thanked the entire team of XIC who were guided by the meticulous planning of XIC Administrative head, Ms Radha. It is this spirited assistance and dedication of Team XIC which made Convocation Day memorable.

Award for the Best Audio-visual Social Documentary in memory of late Mr. Hrishikesh Mukherjee - "Children of God”, to the team members (XIC FTV 2016), Edul Govadia, Sharad Jain, Pranitha Manga, Jay Verma & Divyajot Singh.
The Venkat Vemulapalli Memorial Award for the Best Ad Film – "Yadgiri”, to the team members (ADMA 2016), Animesh Mathur, Ayushi Rastogi, Azeem Topiwala, Ekta Bhavsar, Utkarsh Mehta, Aakanksha Singhal, Bhavya Kapoor, Shiva Agrawal, Shubham Gune & Devansh Kadia.

The singing of the National Anthem was a fitting finale to this XIC Convocation in its 46th year.
