XIC Admission Procedure 2010 - 2011

The new academic year 2010-11 for the Post Graduate Diploma courses Journalism, Advertising, & Marketing, Public Relations, Film Television & Digital Video Production and Marathi Journalism begins on Thursday, July 1, 2010.

ADMISSION information about the ONLINE ENTRANCE TEST refers only to Journalism (English), Advertising & Marketing, Public Relations and Film Television & Digital Video Production courses.

Should you wish to apply for any of these given courses, read the following FAQ's carefully before applying.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Am I eligible to apply?

  • As all the courses are post-graduate, you must be a graduate in any discipline (3 years of graduation) to apply.

  • As all the courses at XIC are full time (approx. 6 class hours a day, 5 days a week), you may not hold a job and attend classes at the same time.


 

What is the ADMISSION procedure like?

This procedure consists of two levels :

  • The first level is an online entrance test done fully on the computer, lasting 90 minutes

  • The second level: If you clear the online test with a pass percentage of at least 60%, you are given a date to report to Xavier Institute of Communications, Mumbai, for your interview and group discussion.


 

When and Where are the online tests being conducted?

They will be conducted in the following cities, at the institutions mentioned.

How do I apply for the Online Entrance Test?

  • You will have to REGISTER for the Online Entrance test.

  • This Registration will begin from 15th March and close on April 20th 2010.

  • Please ensure that you choose your city / centre carefully.

  • The TIME of the Entrance Test.
    There will be batches between 9.00 am and 6.00 p.m. subject to the number of applicants and the availability of computers / seats at the centers.

Please note: No requests for changes in the time-slots will be entertained once the Registration process is completed.

 


 

How do I Pay for the Registration?

When you begin to register for the Online Test, for the course of your choice, a link to the ONLINE APPLICATION FORM and a payment gateway will appear.

Only AFTER filling and submitting the Online Application form, will the payment gateway open. A payment of INR 2000/- is to be made through Debit / Credit (Master / Visa) Card.

Once your payment is accepted, you will be allowed to make a choice of your Centre. It is only after this is done that you will receive an ENTRANCE TEST ‘ADMIT CARD’ from XAVIER INSTITUTE OF COMMUNICATIONS, Mumbai, in the email address used by you.

Please make a very LEGIBLE PRINT-OUT OF THIS ‘ADMIT CARD’ THIS WILL BE YOUR MOST IMPORTANT DOCUMENT OF PROOF for all transactions and further procedure. Follow instructions printed on this ‘Admit Card'.

Along with your ADMIT Card, you will need to carry a Valid PHOTO IDENTITY PROOF to the TEST Centre.
Also please carry 2 passport sized photographs.

 


 

After the Online Entrance Test

The Results Of Your Performance Will Be Posted On This Website,
Six Days After The Completion Of The ‘Entrance Test’

If you obtain a pass percentage of at least 60% in this ONLINE TEST, your name will be posted on this website, with further instructions pertaining to the next step.

 


 

What is the Next Step?

  • Now you will have to appear for your Personal Interview and/or a Group Discussion.

  • This will take place in Mumbai at the XAVIER INSTITUTE OF COMMUNICATIONS, which is part of the ST. XAVIER’S COLLEGE CAMPUS.

  • Dates and timings (in the first three weeks of June,) will be indicated for your PERSONAL INTERVIEW. Some groups may also have to participate in a GROUP DISCUSSION as part of the final screening process.

If you fail to turn up for the interview at the appointed time, you lose your seat this year.

 


 

What document do I need to bring along?

The student is required to bring along the relevant documents for the Interview and leave them with the Superintendent, General Office:

  1. Admit card which is stamped by the test centre. This is compulsory as it is the only document that can make your application valid for the interviews.  

  2. Attested copy of the final year graduation mark sheet, or a copy of the second year mark sheet in the case of candidates awaiting their results.

  3. Two passport size photographs ( 3 cm x 3 cm) with your name and identity number clearly written on the reverse.

  4. A portfolio of media work, if any, should be brought along. Please keep two days free for these above procedures.

The FINAL LIST of successful candidates will be posted on the XIC Notice Boards and the website the next day.

 


 

What Next?

  • For those granted admission, the payment of fees completes the admissions procedure.

  • Fees must be paid in full within three calendar days from the date of selection. Payment is made at XIC by DD in favour of "Xavier Institute of Communications, Mumbai".

  • No personal Cheques, and no cash, please.

  • Payments are also accepted in cash or by DD through any branch of Axis Bank across India, payable at that particular branch. Drafts to be made out in the name of "Xavier Institute of Communications", Acc. No. 465010100014049.
