In the new academic year 2005-06, XIC opened its doors for classes at the XIC Campus, St. Xavier’s High School, Dhobi Talao. The new site has two large halls to accommodate 50 students each, very conducive study environment and state-of-the-art Sound Recording Studios with complete recording facilities.

The audio-visual section of the Cardinal Gracias Media Resource Centre (CGMRC-XIC) is also accommodated in this building. Beautifully carved wooden bookshelves lend personal character to the space, which houses the electronic media and news clippings section.

Students are provided the facility of an e-media and clipping library at the new site.

The collection comprises :Audio-Visuals; Newspaper clippings; and back-issues of prominent newspapers and magazines. The library also maintains a fair collection of both educational (documentaries, training videos, students’ projects) as well as entertaining (feature films) audio-visuals (Cds, DVDs, VHS) on Advertising, Communication, Language, Health, History, Management, Science, Environment, Photography and Multimedia. Students can refer to the archival section as well as borrow research-supporting documents.

Due to lack of space at the CGMRC - XIC, it was decided to shift the audio-visual section to the new extended wing of the XIC premises. Another reason being to segregate print and non-print which would allow for a larger collection.

The audio-visual viewing facilities at the XIC Campus St. Xavier’s High School, has made it convenient to access audiovisuals within the library itself. The facility available to students in-house is at normal charges: To view a VHS/ VCD

To view a VHS/ VCD Rs. 10/- and DVD Rs.30/- .

The borrowing facility is also provided: VHS Rs. 15/- per day, per VHS, and VCD Rs. 25/- per day, per VCD, and DVD Rs. 50/- per day per DVD, Certain DVD’s cannot be borrowed
