XIC Milan January 17, 2014

17-January-2014

XIC’s 44thanniversary was celebrated on January 17, 2014 with Staff, Faculty, Alumni and Associates. This event is now renamed "XIC Milan.”

The evening took off with the lighting of the lamp by the XIC ex-Director,

Fr. Joseph Velinkar, S.J., XIC Board Member, Dr. (Fr.) Anthony Dias, SJ, Alumnus, Ms. Anjoo Daswani, and also Faculty,   Ms. A. E. Radha, Office Superintendent and Mr.Mukesh Vasa, Associate.

Our Director welcomed the guests with a short speech. This was followed by a brief account of the academic progress by the Dean. Thanksgiving prayer included a special mention and a pat for the Journalism students for accommodating and including in all their activities be it academic or cultural, a physically challenged student in their class.

In keeping with this year’s theme - "Inclusive Development; Reality or Illusion”, SNEHASADAN – A Home for the Homeless, was invited to be part of the celebration. Amin Sheikh, their star attraction who successfully runs his own transportbusiness and has published his autobiography "I am who I am” was present. Fr. Noel Pinto, S.J. Director of Senhasadan described their work briefly. A speech by the Special Guest of the evening, Amin Sheikh followed. He spoke humbly about how he landed at Snehasadan as a run-away child. He shared experiences of his early wild and troubled youth and how he benefitted from Snehasadan. All this he has penned down in his book, "I am, who I am”, which also tells us about his dreams! A truly inspiring account from a young person who changed his destiny and is now helping others like himself.

It was also an evening to felicitate Ex-Directors, Older Alumni and Alumni actively involved in social cause. Staff who have completed 10 years and above and 25 years were also duly felicitated.

It was indeed an evening of nostalgia - Alumni meeting their faculty and batch mates once again.

Fr. Roy Pereira, SJ entertained the guests with nostalgic medleys encouraging young and old alumni and faculty to sing along.

The Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Savio D’Mello, had the crowd on its feet, dancing to his tunes or just having fun.

A sumptuous meal in a fairyland ambience was a fitting end to a fun filled MILAN!
