Happyness
At Equal Streets
Sunday, 12th April 2015 | 7 AM – 11
AM
The Happyness quotient started as AICP Event
Management Project with a hope that the grades will bring happiness to all the
20 students from AICP batch 2014-15. The date set for the group project was 12thApril 2015 – Sunday morning beginning at 7 AM. Now, the challenge was to bring
happiness on faces of the people on Equal Streets that Sunday!
Equal Street is a
movement by Times of India in association with many other organizations, where roads
can be used for daily routine activities and not just driving vehicles. So on Sunday
mornings from 7 AM – 11 AM, we can find people on the 6.5 km stretch from Khar to
Bandra walking, jogging, playing badminton, performing yoga, skating, kids
playing & riding bicycles without any fear of fast running vehicles. And in
twenty one days, our target was to bring more and more smiles on the faces
visiting the Equal Streets on a bright Sunday morning.
With two weekends to prepare and the batch of
all working professionals with limited time for planning, very wisely the batch
was divided into four groups with one team lead so that all the responsibilities
were handled on time. Under the guidance of our Events Management Professor –
Daryl Suchitha, the activities finalized for the day were
·

In midst of all planning and promotion of AICP XIC Happiness on Social
Media (Facebook and Twitter), the final day finally arrived. The team reported
at Bandra Linking Road, 6:30 AM. The activities started at 7 AM, went on till 10:45 AM and would have continued
further if Equal Streets time wasn’t limited till 11 AM.
There
were unlimited "I’m Happy Because” messages on the two smiley flex prints like
I am in love; I am going to the US, Evil Exams are over, It’s Equal Streets,
Happy Forever, I am Single…which people were eager to write and click in line
with the current the selfie mania. From adults
to kids to babies to the silver –all wanted to paint their faces and play one
minute games. Kids enjoyed trying their hands with musical instruments and people
started dancing to the songs by the school kid band. The skit played by 30 kids
from NGO was short but engaging. Time flies when you are having fun and it did.
It is said, "A Sunday well-spent brings a week of content” –
well, it indeed was a Sunday well-spent and the activity has brought us weeks
of content and some very dear life long memories.
You too can be a part of those memories by liking our AICP
