XAVIER INSTITUTE OF
COMMUNICATIONS (XIC)
announced its first Cartoon Competition on the topic -- "
PEACE IN OUR TIME "the winners are…
Urvashi Sata, a second
year student of Engineering at the Aeronautical Society of India,
has won the First Prize of Rs 5000/- in the Cartoon
Competition organized by the Xavier Institute of Communications (XIC),
on the theme “ Peace In Our Time”. It was the first of its kind held
by the XIC. The Second Prize of Rs. 3000/- went to Tavish
P. Kotian, a seventh standard student of the Scholar High
School.

The response was overwhelming
- a record number of 170 entries were received from schools and
colleges - the youngest contestant being five years!
The entries were judged by Mr.
Suresh Sawant, India Editor of Witty World International Cartoon
Center and Fr. Myron J. Pereira, Director of XIC. The cartoons were
judged on the bases of content, structure, visual design and
creative ideas. Most of the sketches related to the Indo-Pak
tensions, particularly terrorism; and to communal riots, Hindu vs.
Muslim.

XIC’s goal in organizing this competition
was to connect diverse groups of schools and colleges to advocate a
‘culture of peace’ through art.
