07-August-2015

Advanced Integrated Communication Programme

The first Convocation for AICP for the Academic year 2014-15 of Xavier Institute of Communications was held on August 7, 2015 in The Gerry Rosario Hall, Xavier Institute of Communications, St. Xavier’s College Campus at 6.30 p.m.

The compere for the event was one of the AICP student, Ms. Chriselle Correia. Fr. Lawrence Ferrao SJ, Director of XIC began the evening with a tribute to Mr. Nitin Mukadam, a dear faculty member and an XIC alumnus (1981, Advertising & Marketing Communication), who passed away after a prolonged illness.

Fr. Lawrie then welcomed the Chief Guest and students & staff. The Chief Guest for the evening was our very own PR alumnus, 1999, Mr. Rohan Kanchan, Managing Director, Consulting and Strategy for India Weber Shandwick. Rohan Kanchan has intense work experience in the financial services industry. He also has expertise in areas of Strategic Planning, Corporate & Financial Communication. He has multi sector experience in areas of Corporate affairs, Brand Management and Image Rejuvenation and has managed several high profile clients such as the Godrej Group, eBay, Coca Cola amongst others.

‘The Year Gone By’, a film made by the students was screened. They had covered their entire year at XIC and also included their faculty and events that they participated in.

AICP being a course specially designed for working professionals, Rohan Kanchan seemed the apt choice as Chief Guest. In his speech, he spoke about integrity, loyalty to self and one’s brand, above all, vibrancy, progressiveness & networking. It is advantageous listening to others – even if they are juniors…they have fresher ideas. One should not to be stagnant, always keep in touch with the core of the subject that you’re passionate about. Keep learning more, it’s not always a degree that takes you ahead, it’s also your approach and treatment of the problem that helps you get there. He concluded by saying that he would look forward to meeting some of these youngsters in the future and interacting with them.

Nicolette LeVillard Jadhav was adjudged The ‘Best Student of AICP’ amidst thunderous applause! There was a runner-up award too, which went to Namrata Sule. The awards were sponsored by Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Ltd. The awards were presented by Chief Guest, Rohan Kanchan.

Finally the Diplomas were presented by Course Head Rajeev Chawla to the successful students.

The evening ended with a vote of thanks by Course Head, Rajeev Chawla, followed by refreshments and an informal gathering.
