XIC celebrated the 47th Anniversary on Friday, 21st January 2017. The event was held in the ‘Woods’ in St. Xavier’s College Campus. The alumni, faculty & staff in attendance enjoyed an evening of entertainment through musical performances from staff & students.
The year 2016 saw many events, the one that stood out among the rest was sainthood being bestowed to our own beloved Mother Teresa. XIC held a week long photo exhibition during the countdown to the canonisation day. Sister superior of Ashadaan – Mother Teresa’s mission home in Mumbai was invited for a short evocative programme in September. As our social outreach too, the sisters from Missionaries of Charity were invited to be the beneficiaries of the Alumni Faculty Nite.
Three young visually challenged girls enthralled the crowd with their rendition of ‘Mother’. Short videos on the mission work were screened.
The compere for the evening, Shaayaan Sheikh, an enthusiastic student pursuing Journalism in the current year.
XIC is approaching a milestone – 50 years of establishment soon approaching. Many of the alumni are today well placed professionals in the Media industry. Dean, Dr. Mistry & Director, Fr. Lawrie made this announcement to rousing applause. Those with inventive ideas for an apt celebration were invited to share their inputs.
A pleasant evening followed with old mates meeting, singing karaoke sharing their heroic classroom moments with faculty. Happy faces looking forward to visiting their alma mater soon.
