XIC Admission Procedure 2011 - 2012

Registration closes on 17th April at 11.59 p.m.
Registration for Delhi & Bangalore are closed.

 

Admissions to XIC, for the Academic year 2011-2012 will commence with Registrations for the ONLINE entrance test. These will take place between March 15th and April 15th, 2011 ONLY.

This will be followed by Personal interviews and (for some courses), a Group Discussion for those successful in the ONLINE Entrance Test.


 

PROGRAMMES OFFERED AT XIC FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2011 - 2012

The Institute offers a 9 months Post Graduate Diploma Programme in the following streams commencing from July 2011 to April 2012.

  • Journalism & Mass Communication

  • Advertising & Marketing Communication

  • Public Relations & Corporate Communication

  • Film, Television and Digital Video Production

  • Mass Communication Marathi

ONLINE ENTRANCE TEST will be conducted only for those applying for the following FOUR COURSES at XIC : Journalism & Mass Communication, Advertising & Marketing Communication, Public Relations & Corporate Communication and Film, Television & Digital Video Production.

ELIGIBILITY

Am I eligible to apply?

If you meet the requirements mentioned below, then you are eligible to register for the online entrance test .

  • If you are 30 years or below in age.
    AND

  •  Have completed 3 years of graduation (12+3 years) in any stream (Arts, Commerce, Science, Computers, BMM, BMS, BE, Catering etc….)
    OR

  • Are appearing for your last semester or Third year graduation this year. In this last case, if you are selected for the course and complete it in keeping with the Academic and other needs of XIC, the Diploma will be awarded only on completion of your graduation and the production of the Final mark-sheet.

  • If you fulfill the above mentioned criteria then you can proceed to the next step, which is, to register for the ONLINE ENTRANCE TEST.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

What is the cost of Registering for the XIC Online Entrance Test ?

The registration fee for the online entrance test is Rs.2000/-.

 

HOW CAN I REGISTER FOR THE ONLINE ENTRANCE TEST?

For a trouble free Registration process please follow these steps:

  1. Since payments can be made by using your Bank DEBIT OR CREDIT Cards, please ensure that these Cards are NET BANKING ENABLED. If you are unsure, kindly call up the bank concerned and request them to enable this facility for this transaction.

  2. Once this is cleared with your bank then you may proceed to the next step.

  3. LOGIN to the XIC website: www.xic.in

  4. Fill up the Registration Form ONLINE carefully, giving the required details.

  5. Select your Centre as per your need.

  6. Proceed and complete the payment procedure.

  7. Your Admit Card will be sent on the email address mentioned in the Application form.

  8. Therefore, please ensure that you provide us with your correct E-MAIL ID.

What can happen if my registration is unsuccessful?

Please do not panic! Should you experience difficulty in registering successfully, you will be asked to fill up a fresh registration form. You will also be issued a new Application No.

 

Can I register for more than one course?

You may do so; though, it is not advisable.
If and when you do so, there could be a possibility of the registration process allotting the same time slot for both the test. Should this happen, please bring it to the attention of the Controller of Tests in the XIC office, to enable us to provide you with suitable alternatives.

 
What would be the contents of the online entrance test?

The online entrance test is a 90 minutes ONLINE test and is divided into two parts:

 

OBJECTIVE AND SUBJECTIVE

The OBJECTIVE SECTION carries 20 marks

The SUBJECTIVE SECTION carries 80 marks

It will contain 6 sub-sections with questions based on Language Skills, Knowledge about Media and General Knowledge.

This section will have 3 questions requiring essay type answers / responses.
One question will be COURSE SPECIFIC (related to the Course for which you are opting)
The other two will be Media related, to elicit your views on social, political or other issues and also to help us perceive your creative skills.

 

How will I know if I have qualified for the next level / step of Personal Interviews and / or Group Discussions?

In order to reach the next level you have to score 60% marks in the Online Entrance Test The RESULTS of the online entrance test conducted at all the centers will be announced on the website www.xaviercomm.org on the following dates :

The successful candidates will be called to Mumbai for a Personal Interview.
PR Course candidates will have a P.I. and a Group Discussion.
Tentative dates announced for the P.I. and G.D are - between May 23rd and June 4th, 2011

 

When will the FINAL LIST of successful candidates be announced?

After the completion of the previous steps of P.I. & G.D. the XIC Academic Council will make a consolidated Review of all the results – of the Online Test, of the P. I., and of the G. D. (for PR). Only then will they declare the names of the final list of students selected for all the courses. This will be done tentatively by June 10th, 2011.

 

Will there be a WAITING LIST put up?

Yes. The Wait List will be announced on June 17th, 2011.

 

What will be the mode of payment of fees for successful students?

The selected students will have to deposit their course designated fees within 5 days of the announcement of the results. If the fees are not received by the XIC office within the stipulated period, it will be taken for granted that you will forego your seat. XIC will then approach the next in line as per their evaluation (waiting list) to fill up the vacant seat.
