THE FOURTH DECADE (2001 - 2008)

 

2001

XIC started Xpress, a Placement Service.

Cartoon Network, Maurics (Mo) Willems, creator, writer and director of “Sheep In The Big City” a workshop for Digital Media students.

Inauguration 2nd Computer Lab - ten computers were installed.

2002

Inauguration of Cardinal Gracias Media Resource Centre by Former Librarian Elizabeth C. Braganza.

Telexic, Distance education online. First module News Reporting.

Film & Television Studio with state-of-the-art equipment inaugurated by Fr. Myron. J. Pereira, Director

All departments in the Institute were air-conditioned.

2003

First Directory was printed and distributed at the 33rd Annual Convocation.

Conversational English was taught to the XIC support staff.

XIC Gardens inauguration by the Rector, Fr. Rudolf Heredia.

First Announcing Broadcasting Comparing and Dubbing in Marathi (ABCD) Workshop.

2004

Ms Jane Swamy appointed Dean of Studies

Inauguration by Fr. Joseph M. Carsi SJ of the Computer Lab extension. Fr.Carsi, an architect, designed the place.

Advanced skills for BMM Studies Educators

2005

Inauguration by Prof. J.B. Mistry of the XIC Premises at St. Xavier’s High School Campus.

Deakin University of Australia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Xavier Institute of Communications.

Inauguration of the 32-Track and 16-Track Sound Studios at the XIC School Campus.

2006

First Meeting on the International Standard Organization (ISO) certification for Evaluation of the Teaching System at XIC. Major General Ivan D’Cunha organized the programme.

First Alumni Meeting - Bangalore

2007

Job fair organized by Mrs. Norma Rego, Manager, Finance and Administration, through Xpress the XIC placement services. 95% students were recruited.

The first volume of the Creative Writing Monographs by student journalists of the years 2004-06, released by Eunice de D’Souza, poet, editor and columnist.

First Online Entrance Test for admissions to the academic year 2007-08, at the Attest Testing Centres all over India.

XIC and Toonskool Advanced Animation Academy, Bangalore, plan to conduct a one year diploma course in animation from June 2007.

LionBridge, the famous American software company teamed with XIC to offer its first 3-month course in Technical Writing.

Global Connections between XIC and several foreign universities : Deakin University, Melbourne. Jiao tong University’s School of Media and Design (Shanghai); Bristol School of Art and Design at the University of West England, and the University of Hertforshire. UK.

Fr. Myron J. Pereira, Director of XIC, visit to six Universities in China as the leader of a delegation of universities and schools of journalism and communication from India.

Video Conferencing : First video conferencing between faculty of XIC and faculty of St. Xavier's College, Kolkata.

2008

XIC Alumni On-line Directory web-site www.xxic.org came live10 January 2008. Alumni registered themselves by using the Online XIC Alumni Directory Search.

Fr. Fawrie Ferrao SJ. Ex-Principal of St. Stanislaus School, Mumbai, joined XIC as Association Director.

Convergence and Connectivity, a workshop for faculty and senior staff official was conducted. To take stock of systems and processes related to professional training in the media,, and keeping pace with today’s technology.

The website www.xxic.org for alumni was launched.

2009

UTV and Shemaroo hosted a festival on world cinema

Certificates of appreciation awarded on Convocation Day, to the longest serving members of the institution
